Find your balance.

The name Lira is inspired by origins meaning rhythm, harmony and balance. To us, that reflects the idea that every mind has it's own way of working, and that understanding yourself isn't about changing who you are, but about making sense of your experiences and finding what works for you. At Lira, we're here to help you connect the dots, find understanding, and to live your best life.

Hi, I'm Lauren

Director/Pscyhologist

I am a psychologist based on the Bass Coast. I have experience working across school and private practice settings, as well as extensive experience in roles in the NDIS space. I've also worked as a teaching academic, leading tutorials and marking assessments in undergraduate psychology. I work with clients across the lifespan, and particularly enjoy psychological assessment. I also love supporting teens and adults in therapy.

One of the things I value most about assessment work is the opportunity to help people understand themselves more deeply. I see the process as finding pieces of a puzzle - bringing together information in a way that helps someone make sense of their experiences, recognise their strengths, and better understand their needs. Basically, helping people have that "Ohh, now it makes sense!" moment makes my heart sing.

As a psychologist, my approach is warm, calm, non-judgemental, and collaborative. I aim to create a space where people feel safe, understood, and supported, while also helping them build insight, practical skills, and self-compassion.

I'm also a late-identified neurodivergent person, which means I've personally experienced that moment of "Oh... this explains a lot." This gave me a huge appreciation for how meaningful self-understanding can be, and it's a big part of why I care so much about helping people make sense of their experiences with curiosity and kindness.

Outside of work, I enjoy learning new things (I taught myself to crochet using YouTube tutorials, and hope to teach myself to play keyboard, too!). I love spending time with my husband, our daughter, and our two dogs - a Black Labrador named Lila, and a Golden Retriever named Nala. As a family, we enjoy camping and going on adventures. I also spend a lot of time being taught the new trends and latest Roblox games thanks to my daughter and my nieces and nephews. Breaking my Spotify listening minutes is an annual goal for me and I listen to lots of genres of music - I'm a proud Swiftie, but at heart I'll always be a bit of an elder emo.
